Makassar, November 30th 2022 – PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk together with its business units in the toll road sector, PT Makassar Metro Network (MMN) and PT Jalan Tol Seksi Empat (JTSE) that manages and operates Makassar Toll Road through Nusantara Care in collaboration with Human Initiative officially launch the Kampung Bersih Nusantara Program at Pannampu Village, Tallo District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi on November 30th 2022. The sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program was inagurated by President Director of PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk Ramdani Basri, which was also witnessed by Head of the Environment Service of Makassar Aryati Puspasari Abady; President of Human Initiative Tomy Hendrajati as well as various community leaders.
Ramdani Basri, President Director of PT Nusantara Infrastructure stated “The Kampung Bersih Nusantara Program is a development program that has previously been carried out and is a form of the Company’s concern for the environment of the community around the toll area, which aligns with the third pillar of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, namely health, environment and society.
The Kampung Bersih Nusantara Program is a sustainable CSR Program of Nusantara Infrastructure to solve environmental cleanliness problems around the Makassar Toll Road, precisly in the Pannampu Village, which related to the problem of illegal waste disposal. This program hopefully can support the community development around the toll road so that it has additional economic value for households, by making handicrafts from recycled materials that are still feasible.
“We realized that this waste problem is our responsibility together with the citizen around the toll area and we will need support and synergy from various parties to create an integrated solution, so that waste problems related could be resolved more easily. It is on this basis that we have initiated a sustainable program to support the Makassar Government in encouraging an increase in the value of people's lives" added Ramdani.
Besides providing a trash bank facility, in the Kampung Bersih Nusantara Program, some areas are also beautified by painting the walls by murals to make them look cleaner and more beautiful. Not only from the environment cleanliness, the Company also engages in community development, so that the community would receive proper education about hygiene and health as well as socializations regarding economic development by making goods that can be resold to become additional income. The program also received positive enthusiasm from the community that were directly involved in the work. It is hoped that with this program the community can develop more and encourage the emergence of various other potentials, for the benefit of the surrounding community. In the future, this program will continue to be developed, such as in terms of health, one of which is caused by unclean settlements.
As we know, the residents of RW 003 of Pannampu, Tallo District, Makassar City is a densely populated area and includes areas where the residents do not have proper waste management sites. Household waste that is produced every day is only placed in the yard in a plastic container that is not watertight and without a cover, which produces an unpleasant smells. Residents in this area also have a bad habit of throwing garbage into the Tallo Toll Area, causing a buildup of garbage in the area (toll road). With this program, it is hoped that integrated waste management and aisle cleaning can help the community overcome these problems.
