Business Partnership Nusantara Infrastructure with Japan’s Nexco West in Developing Makassar Toll Road

Makassar, October 7, 2014 – PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk (Nusantara Infrastructure), an integrated private investor and operator company in Indonesia, established cooperation with Nippon Expressway Corporation West (Nexco West) Japan as its partner to develop Makassar toll road, South Sulawesi.

Nexco West is a Japan’s company which operates around 3.290 km toll road. Nexco West is a subsidiary of Jexway (Japan Expressway International Co., Ltd.) -- a Japan’s international toll road specialist company, providing toll road technology, operational, and maintenance service. Jexway – through its subsidiaries, including Nexco West – is operating 9,270 km toll roads in Japan. 

As initial phase in the development plan of Makassar toll road, Nexco West has appointed Katahira & Engineers International (KEI) to conduct feasibility study and design of Makassar toll road. KEI received fund support from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan.

GM Corporate Affairs of Nusantara Infrastructure Deden Rochmawaty told stated that in order to realize the development of Makassar toll road plan, Nusantara Infrastructure with Nexco West and KEI would setup a meeting with the Mayor of Makassar Muhammad Ramdhan Pomanto and his staffs.

“Nusantara Infrastructure is committed to develop infrastructure of Makassar. Today we are having a meeting with the mayor of Makassar to discuss the plan. We believe that infrastructure development will be one of the economic enhancement key in Makassar,” said Deden after the meeting in the Mayor’s office, Makassar (7/10).

The meeting was attended by Nusantara Infrastructure management (including PT Margautama Nusantara (MUN) as a subsidiary operating BMN and JTSE Makassar toll road), and representatives of Nexco West, Jexway, and KEI. While local government of South Sulawesi that includes regional planning and developing agency/Badan Perencanaan dan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA) Makassar, Urban Planning Department of Public Works Makassar, and Spatial Agency of Makassar.

As a result of the meeting, Deden stated that Nusantara Infrastructure and its partner will complete the project plan in order to be in line with the Makassar City’s infrastructure development plan.

The Mayor of Makassar has planned that Makassar urban development leads to the waterfront concept, i.e. the urban development area is directly adjacent to water area, such as sea, lake, or river. This concept implementation will affirm the characteristics of City of Maritime.
