Makassar New Port Toll Access Road Inaugurated by Jokowi

After operating functionally since January 2, 2024, the Makassar New Port (MNP) toll access road was finally inaugurated directly by Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, during his working visit to South Sulawesi on February 22, 2024. Not only the president, the inauguration of the toll road built along 3.2 kilometres was also attended by the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Minister of Transportation, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Commission V members of the House of Representatives, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Mayor of Makassar and President Director of Nusantara Infrastructure.
The construction of this toll road is the first phase of development with an investment value of Rp705 billion connecting the existing toll road to MNP. Later, the construction will continue to the next stage to connect the reverse direction. Before being operated, this toll road obtained a certificate of operation (SLO) from the Director General of Highways on December 28, 2023.
The toll road is expected to be a driver of economic growth and connectivity in Eastern Indonesia, as well as to cut travel time and logistics costs for distributing goods and services between regions.
