Biopori Program in Marunda Rusunawa

Biopori is a water absorbing pit dug into the ground, as a water absorption method to overcome water puddle by increasing the soil’s water absorption. This method was proposed by Dr. Kamir R. Brata, one of the researchers from Bogor Botanical Institute (IPB).

The benefit of Biopori Program was given to Marunda Rusunawa community. The improvement of water absorbing power on the ground can be done by making a hole in the ground and fill it with organic waste to produce compost. The heaped organic waste in the holes can feed the soil fauna, which onward is able to create pores in the soil.
