Toll roads not only offer faster travel times compared to arterial roads but also create more comfortable and safer journeys. According to operational data, traveling via the Makassar Toll Road can save up to 56% of travel time, allowing the community to be more productive in their daily activities. For example, a trip from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport to the city center, which usually takes 52 minutes via arterial routes, can be completed in 23 minutes via the toll road.
More than just functionality, the Makassar Toll Road is here to provide a better driving experience. The available facilities, such as free towing services, cashless payment systems, traffic monitoring, and free 24-hour assistance services provide safety and comfort for toll road users. Additionally, the fulfillment and implementation of the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) set by the Toll Road Regulatory Agency of the Ministry of Public Works, must be met periodically, such as road conditions, lighting, road markings, etc.
“Toll roads are not just an alternative route but a part of a better mobility solution for the community. Through the #TolnyaMakassar campaign, we want to emphasize that choosing the toll road is not just about the speed but also about comfort due to smooth roads that save energy while driving, efficiency because the uninterrupted route prevents fuel wastage and when assistance is needed, such as rescue, ambulance, or towing, our team is ready 24/7. Additionally, using the NITA app will support mobility on the toll road,” said Ismail Malliungan, President Director of PT Makassar Metro Network.
For your information, NITA, or Nusantara Infrastructure Toll Apps, is an application that can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store, providing convenience for road users to access toll fare information, toll services, check electronic money balance, download e-receipts, and view toll road conditions via CCTV.
Ismail added, “Through the NITA App, toll road users can also collect points and have the chance to win attractive prizes. To enhance the digital transaction experience, NITA will offer prizes to lucky toll road users. 20 lucky users will receive a Flazz BCA starter card with an electronic money balance of IDR 200,000. In addition, toll road users will have the chance to win other prizes, such as Flazz BCA electronic money top-up vouchers worth IDR 150,000 for 20 lucky users, which can be used via the NITA app. To participate, users only need to complete a minimum of 20 transactions in a month using the electronic money card registered in the NITA app. Furthermore, in the future, users will also be able to top up their Flazz BCA electronic money balance through the NITA app. “We will continue to develop this application with exciting features that can meet the needs of our consumers.”
For the information, the contribution of the toll road to the development of Makassar plays a crucial role in the city's growth. According to data from various transportation studies, the presence of the toll road is one of the key factors in increasing economic growth by up to 5.18% per year, especially in the trade and logistics sectors. In Makassar, the 24.85 km toll route has helped reduce congestion at several key points, improving the efficiency of goods and people transportation.
“With all the benefits offered—driving comfort, safety, time efficiency, and additional advantages in mobility—we should be proud to have infrastructure that supports smooth travel and city growth. Let’s use #TolnyaMakassar together for a better driving experience!” concluded Ismail.
