NI -Through MUN- Build Traffic Information System in Makassar to Reduce Congestion

The TIS will provide information to road users in the form of visualization of traffic on the highway and off the highway, travel time from one point to another, and real time video integrated with CCTV. This real-time information obtained from a patrol car of PT BMN and JTSE which collecting data using smartphone applications. Traffic information and travel time calculations can be done using a platform that will be connected to the Central Control Room.
MUN targeted some central point of congestion/traffic jam area around the toll roads in Makassar, such as Pettarani street, Nusantara street, and on the road outside the city of Maros. Toll roads will be installed CCTV and Fiber Optic. While beyond the toll roads, in addition to built TIS, CCTV will also be installed in a specific location.
Joko Santoso as Chief Operating Officer of MUN said that TIS that is built outside of the toll area is the first implementation service in Makassar, even in Indonesia. For the government of the city of Makassar, it is expected to help breaking the bottleneck in the city.
While Deden Rochmawaty as General Manager of Corporate Affairs of NI said that NI hopes TIS can be consistently developed in the future in order to reach some strategic locations in Makassar as an implementation of the Smart City concept.
