Kao: To Build Chemical Plant In Indonesia
Dow Jones, 13/02/2012
Kao Corp. (4452.TO) said Tuesday it will build a new chemical plant in Indonesia to meet increasing demand for personal care and industrial chemical products in Asia.
Japan's largest maker of personal care and cleansing products, which also makes chemicals for other uses, said it will start building the plant at an industrial site on the outskirts of Jakarta. The plant is expected to go on stream in January 2013 with an initial investment expected to exceed Y4 billion.
Together with an existing plant at another location near Jakarta, the new plant will help increase Kao's production capacity in Indonesia by 50%, largely turning out a surface activating agent for use in cosmetics and other applications. The existing plant will be relocated and be merged with the new plant by the end of December 2014.
