Central Jakarta Public Works Agency throughout 2010 conducted repair projects covering 154 road sections including the patching of holes of damaged roads totaling 33.562 square meters.

"The road repair using hot-mix layer is intended to enhance the strength and durability of the roads. We also patch the holes on damaged roads to provide security and comfort to road users," said Central Jakarta Public Works Agency Head Indrastuty, Wednesday (1/5).

During 2010, the local public works agency also converted 952.15 square-meter asphalt roads prone to inundation to concrete, including Jl Pangeran Jayakarta. Besides, the local administration has also spent budget amounting to Rp 59.556 billion for improvement on 15 sidewalks. "All the projects have been completed one hundred percent," she said.

Pertaining to the sluggish process of the construction of Marto Bridge stretching over Kali Sentiong, which connects Jl Mitra Kemayoran of Kebonkosong urban village and Jl Sunter Kemayoran of Sunter Jaya urban village, Indrastuty said it was mainly due to the unfinished expropriation of land affected by the project. However, she claimed that the project had been completed 85 percent.

Based on the initial plan, the bridge construction was supposed to be completed by 15 December 2010.
