Holcim Invests Us$450 Million To Boost Production

PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, an Indonesia’s cement giant, invests US$450 million to boost up its production capacity to 10 million tons a year. The company plans to construct new cement factory of 1.7 million ton capacity annually and supporting facilities in Tuban, East Java.
Currently the cement producer operates two cement factories in Narogong, West Java, and Cilacap, Central Java, with annual capacity of 8.3 million tons clinker. It also manages more than 2,500 workers.
Today, the first stone was placed by Minister of Industry M.S. Hidayat in the construction site of the high technology cement factories to be completed in 2013. Besides, the event was also attended by Tuban Regent, Haeny Relawati Widyastuti, President Commissioner of Holcim Indonesia Paul Hugentobler, President Director of Holcim Indonesia Eamon Ginley and a representative of Switzerland Embassy for Indonesia as well as a representative of Indonesian Coordinating Investment Board (BKPM).
According to Eamon, the modern and efficient factory will support Holcim to achieve its vision of providing a healthy environmen in the future. Furthermore, the integrated facility located 30 kilometers from Tuban will produce various cement sacks and bulk cement.
The establisment is ecpected to be completed by 2013 and the producer is optimistic to create jobs for thousands of small and middle contractors operating locally and nationally.
