Banten Toll Road in Hot Demand
Jakarta Globe - 29/05/2012
Toll road operators Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada and Nusantara Infrastructure are preparing themselves for a project that will connect Serpong to Balaraja, both in Banten, the tender for which is expected early next year.
CMNP corporate secretary Hudaya Aryanto said the company intended to bid for the project and become the majority shareholder. “The company is in discussions with the initiator over establishing a consortium,” Hudaya said.
The initiator of the project is listed as property developer Bumi Serpong Damai, which operates BSD City, a fast-growing satellite city in Serpong.
Bumi Serpong is conducting a feasibility study on the project. Hudaya said that the toll road section had large potential traffic volumes.
Nusantara Infrastructure is also keen on a stake in the section, director Bernardus Djonoputro said.
He said the section was a good match for its existing toll road section connecting Serpong and Pondok Aren, both in Tangerang district.
“We want to continue cooperation with Bumi Serpong Damai through this project. Furthermore, if it can connect to our existing toll road, it can boost traffic from BSD,” Bernardus said.
The Public Works Ministry appointed Bumi Serpong Damai as the initiator of the project in February. The initiator has the right to match the highest bid and a margin preference. The initiator is required to fund a feasibility study.
